Energy Management Automation

Many energy-management systems measure consumption, display dashboards, and send alerts. HECSYsmart® goes further by connecting that information to industrial control. The system can automatically coordinate facility loads, batteries, generators, solar, breakers, and other controllable assets according to approved operating logic. The objective is not simply to show you where energy is being used - it is to take action when conditions change. 

HECSYsmart® can do both. A facility may begin with monitoring, alerts, and operator recommendations. Once operating sequences and safety limits are established, the HECSYsmart® EMS can automate approved actions. That can include demand reduction, load sequencing, battery dispatch, generator operation, breaker control, and other facility-specific strategies.

Efficiency measures reduce how much energy equipment consumes. HECSYsmart® also manages when, how, and from where energy is used. The system can respond to peak demand, power factor, available onsite generation, battery state of charge, utility conditions, energy prices, and selected facility operating priorities. This allows HECSYsmart® to address costs that efficiency improvements alone cannot solve. 

Yes, where compatible communications and controls are available. HECSYsmart® is designed to complement existing facility systems rather than require replacing everything. It can integrate with supported BMS, SCADA, PLC, meter, generator, battery, solar, and equipment-control platforms. The final architecture is developed around the facility and the equipment already in place. 

No. Many facilities begin with metering, demand management, power-factor monitoring, alerts, and control of existing facility loads. Facilities can add additional assets such as batteries, generators, or solar later. The same control infrastructure can then coordinate those resources as part of a larger energy strategy. 

Yes. This is one of the major differences between simple energy monitoring and a true energy-control platform. When the facility, utility territory, market rules, and available assets qualify, HECSYsmart® can support strategies such as demand response, load curtailment, capacity participation, energy-market response, and other grid programs. Instead of the facility being only an electricity consumer, HECSYsmart® can help make its controllable energy capacity useful to the grid. 

A Virtual Power Plant, or VPP, coordinates multiple controllable energy resources so they can respond together as a single energy resource. HECSYsmart® can coordinate facility loads, batteries, generators, solar, and other available assets through one control architecture. Once appropriate utility, interconnection, and market requirements are satisfied, that controllable capacity can potentially participate in grid programs and energy markets. The facility does not have to stop operating to become an energy asset; the goal is to use available flexibility intelligently. 

Potentially, yes. Depending on the market, utility program, facility load profile, and available energy assets, controllable capacity may have value through demand-response programs, capacity markets, energy markets, or other grid services. HECSYsmart® is designed to help identify that available capacity, control it reliably, and support the measurement and verification required for participation. This creates an opportunity to move from simply reducing an electric bill to potentially creating energy-related revenue. 

It should not. HECSY develops control logic around the customer's operational requirements. Critical loads, equipment limitations, production schedules, manual overrides, minimum operating conditions, and fail-safe sequences are defined before enabling automation. Energy management is subordinate to the facility's safe and reliable operation.

Yes. Operators can retain appropriate local control and manual override capability. HECSYsmart® automation operates within predefined permissions, operating limits, and safety sequences. The goal is to automate routine energy decisions without taking necessary control away from facility personnel.
